Installers and builders want to know what lies beneath the covering before they commit to a price. We record the foam and the state of the timber, so nobody is surprised halfway through the job. The report can go straight to your installer or builder if you would like it to.
Panel brackets, roof windows and dormers all bear on the rafters or pass through the covering. Foam on the battens can change how fixings hold and can hide the timber they depend on. A contractor would rather hear about it at the quoting stage than when the first slate is lifted and the price is already agreed.
Photographs showing the foam in place, a note of type and depth, and moisture readings on the timber we could reach. The report also lists areas we could not see, so nothing is implied that we did not check. Send it to one contractor, or pass it to several so each prices from the same facts.
Before you sign anything with an installer. The standard £195 survey applies and the report arrives within 24 hours. The findings can change the scope, the timing or the choice of firm. If clearing the foam first looks sensible, a separate written removal quote follows and you decide in your own time.
